Observations

Just random observations I have about the game I've not seen others talk about.

Spoilers abound.

A weird of underwater creature imagery in the game. The only motile creatures our astronaut deals with (aside from the Heathians themselves) resemble real-world sea creatures (jellyfish and anglerfish). Not only that, but the original Nomai's Vessel and Escape pods resemble a Man o' War and Nautilus respectively.

The motile creatures can be explained by the Ghost Matter killing off anything not in water, and the Nomai having sea creature inspired ships isn't odd in its own right, but interesting for both of these to be the case.

The Nomai writing goes dark once translated. Though this is obviously done to aid gameplay, I headcanon that is part of their their text that is triggered by a reader to inform another that their words have been read, like a read receipt (as conversations happen over time and not immediately).

Speaking of their conversations, the form they take is very similar to social media, specifically Twitter/Mastodon.

There seems to be a cultural idea, for the Nomai (or at least the stranded clan), of a city being a vertical thing, with each layer being its own district. Both the cities created by the stranded Nomai have distinct vertical districts. This could be attributed to their living on a (space)ship, which presumably had decks laid out vertically.
